Arrested Holmesley care home staff bailed as investigation into Covid deaths continues

Two people arrested in connection with the nine Covid deaths at Sidmouth's Holmesley care home have been released on police bail.

On Thursday, March 25 police said they had detained a 57-year-old woman from Sidmouth and a 30-year old man from Exeter on suspicion of wilful neglect.

On Wednesday, March 31, a police spokesperson confirmed that the pair had been released on bail until Monday, April 19 pending further inquiries.

Police revealed on Thursday, March 11 that they were investigating the nine deaths at the Holmesley care home since February 27, and they say the investigation is expected to take several weeks.

The investigation is being led by Devon & Cornwall Police in partnership with a multi-agency safeguarding response, to maintain the welfare of the care home's residents.
