Jogger rescues elderly lady from the River Sid

Police are trying to locate a male jogger who was in the Byes, Sidmouth between 7.15am and 8.30am this morning (August 12).

In a statement from Rural East Devon Police: "The male found an elderly female who had fallen into the River Sid and then flagged down other joggers to assist him.

"Between them they managed to rescue the lady from the river.

"An ambulance was called and the lady was taken to RD&E suffering from hypothermia. His quick thinking undoubtedly led to the elderly lady being found alive."

Police would like to thank the male and request that anyone with any information that may assist us identify and locate him kindly contact the Police via 101, quoting log 0125 12/08/19, or ask for the information to be passed to PCSO 30190 Steve Blanchford-Cox.
