Sidmouth Lifeboat will be officially naming and blessing its new Arctic 24 on Saturday 17, August at 11am.

In a statement released by The Lifeboat Station, it said: "We invite all of Sidmouth community to join us on the esplanade to welcome this new vessel to our fleet and wish it well on every mission it takes out at sea.

"A generous donation in trust, from the late Surgeon Captain Peter Jeffrey Truesdale and his sister Barbara, has allowed us to invest in this replacement vessel for our fleet.

"Sidmouth Lifeboat is an independent organisation and exists solely on the generous donations from our local community and beyond. 100% of money raised is used to keep our boats maintained, and crew trained and equipped.

"Sidmouth Lifeboat would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to everyone in our local community and beyond for their continued support.

"We could not operate without the generous donations of time and money we receive."
