A Sidmouth man is on the final day of a gruelling challenge, having clocked-up serious mileage on foot everyday for 60 days straight.

30-year-old father of two, Zaq Bevan, came up with the brutally tough and relentless running schedule as a way of showing support for NHS workers in the midst of a health crisis.

"I was sat there one day thinking how can I help these people who are putting their lives at risk to protect us, and that's how I came up with this fundraising idea," he told Sidmouth Nub News.

It started at around the 8-mile mark, to coincide with Government guidelines of an hours' daily exercise. However, half-way through Zaq decided to "up the anti" and push for a half marathon every 24hours for the remaining month.

"I'm absolutely exhausted. It's been hard and has taken a toll on my body - I've got plates in my leg from a previous injury. You've just got to push through.

"It's also been amazing and really cool. I've been running along Sidmouth seafront most days and I've enjoyed having people join me on runs."

The impressive nature of Zaq's challenge was picked up by five-time Olympian, Jo Pavey - a gold-medalist for long-distance running.

She wrote him a letter and awarded him the Team GB medal she received at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

"I felt so humbled that she took the time to write to me and gifted me her medal. She is such an inspiring athlete."
