Simon Jupp MP sends 'deepest condolences' on the death of Prince Philip

Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II's husband, has died aged 99.

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

Simon Jupp, MP for East Devon, said: "Sending my deepest condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family on this sad day.

"His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, gave a lifetime of service to Queen and country."

Sidmouth councillor Stuart Hughes said: "My deepest condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family on hearing the very sad news of the passing of his Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. An inspiration to so many, RIP."

The prince was the longest-serving royal consort in history.

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said: "We mourn today with Her Majesty the Queen. We offer our condolences to her, to her family. And we give thanks, as a nation, and a kingdom, for the extraordinary life and work of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh."
