A street food fair in Sidmouth on Friday brought flavours from around the world to the grounds of Kennaway House.

The first Sidmouth Eats Boutique event of the summer featured food and drink producers from the local area, offering people the chance to enjoy a range of takeaway dishes in the evening sunshine.

Martin and Lynn Brown had travelled from Budleigh Salterton for the event. Martin said: "It's lovely to come to Sidmouth Eats Boutique. It gives us the opportunity to experience a whole range of different cuisines that we don't usually have access to in East Devon."

Another visitor said the event had 'a good atmosphere and range of stalls'.

The traders were also happy to be there.

Edmond Daviri of World Food, which was serving wraps and paellas, said: "It's great to be back in Sidmouth - the atmosphere today is amazing."

Sharon Mitchell of Frost 'n' Curl handmade ice cream said: 'It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the sunshine, and especially to see to see the happiness and laughter of the children. Our Salted Caramel and Strawberry and Cream flavours with fresh fruit toppings have been especially popular today."

Eleanor Carr, the event director from Unique Boutique Events, said: "We are so glad to be back in Sidmouth after a very difficult year for events and hospitality businesses.

"Our events are proud to support sole traders and local people - each trader is its own business, very many of whom are based Devon, and it we are all so pleased to be able to relaunch what we love doing.

"Many of the traders also source their ingredients from local farms, indeed Ellis's Farm Field Kitchen gore their beef and slaughter humanely themselves on their farm in Hemyock.

"The bar is also stocking more drinks produced in the south west, including Bar Buoy cocktails, which is a business set up during the pandemic based in Exmouth."

Unique Boutique Events is based in Colyford and Eleanor is keen to 'join the dots' when it comes to local producers and businesses. "It's what keeps our events unique and celebrates the very beautiful place in which we live".

Sidmouth Eats will take place again on Friday, July 23 July from 4pm until 9pm.
