More volunteers are needed to carry out collections at Sidmouth Air Show on Friday, August 27.

The event is organised by the town council, but needs to be funded by donations from spectators and visitors on the day.

There's currently a shortage of people to carry collection buckets and invite donations from the thousands of people who gather to watch the aeronautical displays.

Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce is appealing for people who can help for just two hours, from 5pm until 7pm, while also watching and enjoying the show.

Chairman David Cook said: "The event attracts large numbers of visitors and local residents, most of whom spend some hours in the town, with many staying after, and this annual event (albeit cancelled due to Covid last year) can only continue if Sidmouth Town Council receive enough financial support.

"So please get involved for just a couple of hours so that Sidmouth businesses can benefit from this event in the future."

Anyone who can help is asked to email [email protected]. by midday this Friday, August 20.

The town council and Chamber of Commerce have thanked all those who have already volunteered as collectors.
