A man has died after a car went over a cliff in Sidmouth today

A man has died after a car went over a cliff in Sidmouth and landed on the beach this morning.

Police have now confirmed a man has died after a vehicle went over cliffs in Peak Hill Road, Sidmouth, this morning [Wednesday 6 November].

A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called at 9.25am. The vehicle ended up on the beach.

"A man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are currently working to confirm his identity. Work is currently being done to recover the vehicle."

A coastguard helicopter, paramedics, police and lifeboats were all sent to the scene.

The police have closed Peak Hill Road and Manor Road.
