Award winning Planet Earth cameraman visits Sidmouth tomorrow

Award winning wildlife cameraman Doug Allan will soon be in Sidmouth to talk about his adventures filming some of the most influential wildlife documentaries ever produced by the BBC.
In The Company Of Giants with Doug Allan will take place at the Manor Pavilion Theatre on Thursday, October 10, at 7.30pm. The evening event is part of Sidmouth Science Festival.
The Scottish wildlife cameraman and photographer is best known for his work in polar regions and underwater.
Doug's interest in filming underwater started when he started snorkelling and diving as a youngster.
He went on to study Marine Biology at the University of Stirling after which he became one of the last pearl hunters in Scotland.
Doug started working with the BBC in 1985 working primarily in extreme environments on projects such as, Life in the Freezer, Wildlife Special: Polar Bear, The Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Frozen Planet.
He has won eight Emmys, four BAFTAs and in 2017 he was awarded an Outstanding Contribution by the British Academy Scotland Awards for his work with the BBC.
