Okay so, how many people confess to telling their beauty therapist things that they thought they would never tell anyone? Right?! We are all guilty of it.

Guilty probably not being the right word though. What's to feel guilty about? You're just comfortable talking to someone and lucky, I'd say, to feel comfortable enough to be able to talk to people you don't necessarily know all that well.

Did you ever stop and think, 'should I be saying this'? Probably! Did it stop you? No! So what!

We totally underestimate how amazing it is to be around someone you can just talk to, be completely yourself around.

Some of my clients don't see or talk to anyone for days or even weeks and it strikes me how sad that is.

It also makes me crazy happy that they chose me to be so open and honest with, especially mid wax! It is also a huge relief for me to be able to offload just as much back to them as they do to me.

It's good to talk, no matter what it is. Its important to find someone that you can say anything to and it is important to feel no judgement. Which takes me onto my next point.

How many times have you heard: "Ooh look at her, all that makeup and Botox, she must feel so insecure and bad about herself to have to have all that done!."

Erm... excuse me? You mean to tell me people actually throw shade at those that are loving themselves? Because you do know, to look after yourself is to love yourself.

It is possible to love who you are and still want bright red nails, lip filler and a spray tan honey!

That screams to me, somebody feeling good enough about themselves to want to look their best. Is that such a crime?

You don't need bright red nails, lip filler and a spray tan to love yourself but we all have the right to do what makes us feel happy, what makes us US!

I have never had a client, thankfully, that has left my chair/couch and said, "God, I feel so much worse off for that!"

Instead I hear, 'Ah that's better, I feel lush!' and they smile!

Which makes me smile, and we laugh and we compliment each other and we realise in those moments how similar we all really are. How we all just want to be accepted for who we are and it's in those moments I thank Beauty Therapy!

Mental health is a huge part of our every day now, people are talking about it and that I feel is something that should be celebrated.

Those of us that have to live with that beast though, should not be denied those special moments in a salon that make us feel fabulous!

Beauty therapy may not be the cure for mental heath, I don't think there is a cure for mental health. What I do know is that it can hit us all like a train, it doesn't care who you are. But you know what beauty therapy can do?

It can ease your suffering, it can make you feel great about yourself and its a way to learn to love yourself.

Find that therapist that will welcome you with a massive cuddle and a cuppa, that will quite literally sit for hours scrubbing your hard skin and squeezing your black heads putting the world to rights, but will most importantly make you feel like a best friend and that you matter.

Do not feel guilty for spending time and money on yourself, you are the most important person to YOU! Book that spray tan, book that facial. You're more important than you realise.
