Illustrations depicting Sidmouth, including everything from hotels, pubs, hills, beach views and charming wonky lampposts, have been used to create a town calendar.

Local artist Mary Tempest keep herself rather busy during the first lockdown, spending around three hours on each image.

All the images have now been put into a calendar celebrating our beautiful town.

Mary, who moved to Sidmouth last year to retire, said: "Drawing is my therapy and always has been, I found the feelings of panic and isolation brought on by lockdown, were made more bearable by sinking into drawing.

"I was unable to explore Sidmouth due to restrictions, so instead I stayed home and worked on 16+ line drawings from photos.

"Several people were asking if they could buy prints of the drawings so I decided to put them all together in a calendar, Sidmouth Print did a great job with that."

Mary, who also draws pet and family portraits, said she worked hard as an art student in the 70s to get her BA Honours degree in Art and Illustration and has more recently worked in Exeter tourism - where part of her job was to draw old buildings and heritage scenes.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for Mary's art next time you visit the Balfour Arms who have some displayed in the bar.

The calendars are £10 each. Visit Mary's Facebook page HERE to purchase yours.
