Residents and staff at Sidmouth's Arcot House care home and its sister home, Dove Court in Seaton, have been getting festive with Christmas jumpers and elf costumes.

The two homes take part in Christmas Jumper Day on December 11 and Elf Day on December 4 every year, with residents and staff making a small donation to charity if they dress up.

Senior Manager Samantha Evens said: "We have great fun. This year many residents have wanted to wear their jumpers the next day, so the staff have been washing them overnight."

In fact, some residents were still washing and wearing their Christmas jumpers a week after the event.

The donations collected amounted to £50, which will be given to Save the Children.
