Christmas message from the East Devon MP Simon Jupp

We all have to make difficult decisions over who we'll see and who we won't this Christmas. I know it's a very challenging situation for many of us as we strike a careful balance between head and heart.
Many people have Covid fatigue as we wonder when we'll be able to get back to normal. We now have real hope with the roll-out of the vaccine.
I recently spoke with the incredible team at the Exmouth vaccination centre. They've already managed to provide the first dose of the vaccine to 2,000 people before Christmas. Considering it's not the only place in East Devon and Exeter where people can be vaccinated, it's quite an incredible feat!
We should also pause and reflect on the incredible community spirit we've seen across East Devon over the past year. Within days of the lockdown in March, hundreds of volunteers signed up to collect prescriptions and shopping, and offer a listening ear to those who might face isolation.
It was a pleasure to be a small part of that community effort in Sidmouth. The heart-warming support offered by volunteers in our towns and villages was simply amazing. It brought our communities even closer together, in the toughest of times.
The challenges we have faced and continue to battle aren't unique to our country. Many countries are locking down tightly over Christmas. We all long for the day that we can throw the last mask in the bin. That moment will come, but not quite yet.
We have faced so much together in the last 12 months. If you need my help, you need only ask and I'll explore every avenue to assist you. We will get through this, together.
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
