Inspections of cliff faces at Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton are set to take place next month, East Devon District Council has said.

It comes after a large cliff fall at Budleigh Salterton in December, and several on Sidmouth's East Beach in 2021.

Inspections are being carried out at Seaton today (Monday 28 February), and are scheduled for Budleigh Salterton on 7 March and Sidmouth on 8 March.

Rolling cordons will be in place for safety, and the undercliff path to Jacob's Ladder beach will be closed on 8 March as well.

A spokesperson for East Devon District Council said: "Cliff inspections will be taking place across the district over the next two weeks, starting at Seaton on Monday 28 February before moving on to Beer (2-4 March), Budleigh Salterton (7 March) and Sidmouth (8 March).

"Rolling cordons will be in place below the cliffs for public safety, and it will be necessary to close the undercliff path at Sidmouth on 8 March weather permitting."

Diversions will reportedly be in place.
