Beer Coastguards have been called to Jacobs Ladder beach in Sidmouth for two days in a row.

The first call came yesterday (20 Aug) at 1.39pm, following reports of a cliff fall and possible persons in danger.

On our arrival, coastguards sent a two-man team along the beach to check on the small cliff fall and if anybody was in danger.

Whilst walking the beach they gave safety advice to some groups who were sat at the base of the cliff.

The cliff was still crumbling with lumps falling all the time. No persons were in the direct vicinity so the coastguards were stood down.

A spokesperson said: "If you go to the beach please keep away from the base of the cliffs as these cliffs are very unstable."

The team were called to the same location again this morning (21 Aug) at 10.39am, this time to a dinghy in the surf and it was unclear if there were people on board.

Once on scene, two dinghies were found in the surf, one with an outboard and the other with oars. Coastguards immediately started a visual search of the sea whilst calls were made to see if any local beaches had dinghies missing.

It was found that four dinghies had been washed off the beach at Ladram Bay and were confirmed to be the dinghies found by the coastguards.

As no persons were involved, the team were stood down and returned to station.
