Devon Air Ambulance has given a Sidmouth man an award recognising his 10 years of voluntary service to the charity.

Simon Card received the accolade from CEO Helena Holt at Westpoint, Exeter where the charity was holding a volunteer away day for its many volunteers across the county.

He also received a certificate upon becoming a 'Talks and Presentations Champion', after doing community talks to help raise awareness and funds.

Simon said: "This is a wonderful and essential Devon charity that receives no direct government, NHS or National Lottery funding, relying only on the generosity of the good people of Devon and beyond.

"I have been very proud to play a small part working with the hard working team saving lives across the county."

Volunteer Manager at DAA Vicky Thresher said: "Simon has played a significant role in promoting the work of our charity across Devon over the past 10 years.

"Taking part in helping out at many events, receiving cheques on our behalf and holding community talks for countless groups and organisations, we can't thank Simon enough for his contribution and his continuing support.

"Without our fantastic volunteers, we simply could not continue to respond to those who need us when every second really counts."
