East Devon District Council has installed solar panels and heat pumps and carried out refurbishments for residents of its houses in Branscombe.

The local authority said that the improvements will make "a big difference" in the current cost-of-living crisis.

An EDDC spokesperson said: "At a time when the cost of living and soaring energy bills are creating challenges for so many people, any refurbishment work we can do to help improve the energy efficiency of homes makes a big difference.

"These works can often be substantial, such as the projects Ian Williams has just completed on behalf of East Devon District Council residents in Branscombe.

"These include upgrades to roofs, roofline, windows and doors, cavity fills, external rendering and redecoration and the installation of air source heat pumps and solar panels.

"Ian Williams would like to thank the retrofit teams who carried out this project and the residents for their patience while the improvements were undertaken.

"Not only do the properties looks great, but more importantly, energy bills will be reduced – a perfect example of working in partnership with clients and residents to create better quality of lives."
