East Devon Luncheon Club enjoys talk from actress Eliza McClelland at Sidmouth's Victoria Hotel
East Devon Luncheon Club had a most successful and enjoyable December luncheon with 82 members and guests attending.
The speaker, Eliza McClelland, entitled her talk 'A Christmas Party' and she regaled those attending the lunch with a wide range of anecdotes, entertaining them with historical references, stories, poems, jokes and songs relating to the festive season.
Eliza is an actress and worked all her life in film, television and stage.
She comes from a theatre family, and has a long list of roles behind her appearing in such programmes as Casualty, Peak Practice, Inspector Lindley as well as countless other television appearances.
East Devon Luncheon Club Chairman Simon Card said: "This was a really fun-filled lunch much enjoyed by our members and guests.
"Eliza didn't stop entertaining us with a huge range of stories and Christmas 'showbiz fayre', we could have gone on for another hour at least!
"I would also like to thank the Victoria Hotel team who were brilliant, we had a number of guests turn up to find they were not on the guest list as their lunch applications had not been received due to the postal strike and the hotel bent over backwards to accommodate everybody."
