Exciting plans for a new skatepark in Sidmouth have now been submitted to the planning authorities at East Devon District Council (EDDC) for approval.

Maverick Industries, which specialise in the design and installation of spray concrete skateparks and 'have installed some of the best skateparks across the UK'.

The consultation company is responsible for the designs, which are now in the hands of planning officers at EDDC to decide if the project gets the green light.

A spokesperson for Sidmouth Town Council today (October 30) confirmed that the planning application has been sent to EDDC and is awaiting a decision.

Chair of Sidmouth Town Council, Ian Barlow, commented: "Sidmouth has had a skatepark for 25 years and was the first town to provide such an amenity for youth in the area, but it is now very out-dated.

"Unlike other parks, which have received funding for renovation, we as a council took ownership of Sidmouth skatepark, so instead of relying on money from district council, we have to sort out our own investment.

"As always, we aim to provide the best for young people living in Sidmouth and don't do things by half - so a lot of time and energy is going into ensuring that this new facility is the best we can get."
