Update: The road has now been cleared.

The A3052 Sidmouth Road has been closed at Four Elms Hill near Newton Poppleford after a tree fell onto the road.

It comes as Storm Eunice makes landfall in the UK, bringing 'extremely strong winds' and prompting an amber warning from the Met Office for the local area.

The tweet from Devon County Council Highways and Emergency Planning alerts read: "A3052 closed at Four Elms Hill nr Newton Poppleford for dangerous tree.

"Please seek alternative route and expect delays JS."
