The owner of a Sidmouth restaurant has decided to use his decades of fine dining experience to offer Sidmouth residents 'something different for dinner'.

Matthew Weaver of Sidmouth's Fort Restaurant and Cafe is now taking orders for his new Friday Evening Fine Dining Take Away Experience.

Matthew has been a chef in Sidmouth for the past 11 years, previously as the executive chef at Sidmouth's Riviera Hotel.

He has also gained experience from catering in France and has 21 years catering under his belt and has worked alongside celebrity chef Phil Vickery.

The Menu

The menu is made up of five main options, five dessert options and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Here is just a sample of some of the dishes on offer, to see the full menu click here.

Main Courses:

-Braised Lamb Shank served with Roast Root Vegetables, Spinach, Red Wine Shallots, Creamed Mash Potato and Herb Red Wine Sauce.

-Slow Roast Belly Pork served with Potato Fondant, Braised Leeks, Apple Compote, Carrot Ribbons, Crackling and a Cider Sauce.

Desserts:

-Dark Chocolate Mousse served with Raspberry Puree, Fresh Raspberries, and Chocolate Crisp.

-Vanilla Pana Cotta served with a Strawberry Compote and a Shortbread Biscuit.

Nub news spoke to Matthew today to find out why he has decided to create the takeaway fine dining experience and what diners can expect.

"My cafe has been running for six years now but my background is working in rosette restaurants in big hotels," said Matthew.

"I thought I'd put together a menu of dishes I know people will like and that I used to make at the hotels. It is something a bit different from your Chinese and pizza takeaways.

"I thought I'd put my knowledge to use and offer Sidmouth something different for dinner. I've put a menu together with five mains and five desserts to choose from.

"I'm using local and seasonal produce and trying out some different cuts of meat."

To keep everyone as safe as possible, Matthew will offer collection slots every 15 minutes from 5pm until 9:30pm from the restaurant's kiosk hatch.

Please ring the bell and step back, he will then pop your order through the hatch onto the outside counter top for you to pick up.

After each collection the bell and counter will be disinfected and customers are asked to adhere to the Government's social distancing guidelines.

To place an order please call Matt on 07877 925 127 by the preceding Thursday. For safety reasons the restaurant is only accepting payment over the phone at this time.
