A water main has burst on Sidmouth Road, A3052, and drivers are being warned to 'expect heavy delays' throughout the weekend.

Two way traffic lights have been set up on Sidmouth Road, A3052, between Crealy Theme Park and the nearby Esso Garage.

Devon County Council (DCC) has confirmed that the lights could be in place throughout the weekend as work is carried out to fix the burst water main.

This afternoon a DCC spokesperson tweeted: "Two way traffic lights are being set up on the A3052 Sidmouth Road between Crealy and the Esso garage due to a burst water main.

"There will be emergency works starting now and continuing over the weekend, expect heavy delays."

The Met Office has advised motorists to only make essential journeys today (August 9) and tomorrow, due to high winds and heavy rain.
