Residents across Doveleigh Care's three care homes, one of which is in Sidmouth, celebrated the King's coronation with a variety of activities.

They also helped set up all the decorations, filling the homes with flags and bunting ready for the celebrations.

Residents started off the weekend fun with a crown-decoration session and a royal quiz, whilst they reminisced about the Queen's coronation back in 1953. Most could remember watching it back then.

Mary (a resident at Arcot House in Sidmouth), who will be 102 this year, not only remembers the Queen's coronation but also King George VI's coronation way back in 1937, when she was 16 at the time!

On Saturday the communal areas were arranged so everyone had a clear view of the TV. We all sat and watched the very special occasion. Masks of the King and Queen were worn, causing much amusement.

Later in the afternoon, everyone was treated to a plate of assorted cakes and a glass of Prosecco.

Special days like these are very memorable and it's always a joy to see our residents have so much fun.
