Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce will be staging a royal street party to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The coronation itself takes place on Saturday 6 May, and the street party will be held the day after on Sunday 7 May from 4pm to 7pm.

The format will be similar to previous street parties organised by the Chamber, taking place in Market Square and surrounding streets.

Road closures have been applied for.  Each table will seat six people and the cost will be £36 per table.

The Chamber provides the tables and organises the event, but everything else is up to you, including providing seating for your table.

How to secure a table

The tables will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis on Saturday 25 March at 10am at the Anchor Inn on Old Fore Street.

Chamber representatives will be on hand to marshal the queue and organise the selecting of tables.

All the arrangements will be very similar to those previously used for similar events.

The Chamber advises everyone who wishes to purchase a table to attend on 25 March. Demand is always strong, and will be especially so, given the significance of the event as the first coronation that almost all of us will have experienced.

Any remaining tickets will be sold at Sidsoft on Church Street from Tuesday 28 March.

As usual, Sidmouth Town Band will be playing at the street party, and everyone will be expected to decorate their tables and to dress in red, white and blue.

Sidmouth's royal street parties have become very popular community events, and are believed to be one of the largest such occasions in the country, with more than 900 attendees.  No town does a street party better than Sidmouth!
