JOBS: Sidmouth College seeks Business Manager and Parent Support Advisor

Sidmouth College is advertising two new jobs to both look after the college's finances and support parents.

The college, on Primley Road, is looking for a Business Manager and a Parent Support Advisor/Early Help Co-ordinator.

The Business Manager Role- £36,876 - £40,760 per annum

"Sidmouth College is looking for a person with strong experience of leadership and positive and enthusiastic attitudes to join the College as Business Manager from September 2020.

"This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Senior Leadership Team at a time when as a team we are driving forward school improvement. We are seeking to appoint a senior leader who has the imagination and vision to support colleagues who are ambitious to provide life chances for young people.

"The person appointed will be a member of the Leadership Team providing strategic direction and leadership of finance, facilities and personnel. The College is undergoing rapid change with the majority of the campus due to move to a new facility in September 2020, constructed by the DFE under phase 2 of the Priority Schools Building Programme.

"You must have excellent communication skills: oral and written, including the ability to listen as well as transmit. You must have adaptability and a flexible approach to job roles and responsibilities and the ability to be effective under pressure.

"You will have the ability to solve problems as they occur and have the flexibility to cope with varied tasks as priorities change. You must have good organisational ability with a methodical approach to work and attention to detail. You must be pleasant, approachable, tactful and patient and have a good sense of humour. You must be punctual and reliable. Good keyboard skills are also required.

"Hours of work are 37 hours per week, all year round."

The successful applicant will have to undergo an enhanced DBS check. The closing date for applications is March 6.

The Parent Support Advisor/Early Help Co-ordinator Role - £18,145 per annum

"Sidmouth College is seeking to appoint a Parent Support Advisor/Early Help Co-ordinator to work with our Pastoral team within the College and across local feeder Primary Schools from April 2020.

"The Parent Support Advisor/Early Help Co-ordinator will offer early intervention, preventative support, guidance and advice to improve outcomes for children, young people and families. The role requires a practitioner who is experienced in working with parents and young people. The successful candidate will be well organised, have the ability to prioritise workloads and be able to deal with difficult situations in a calm manner. Ideally the Parent Support Advisor/Early Help Co-ordinator will have experience within the field of education, social services/welfare or the voluntary sector.

"The role will be a varied one, based at Sidmouth College with outreach to other schools. The successful candidate must be a trustworthy team member who is a confident and experienced communicator, is flexible and has good confidentiality.

"The role lastly requires a high level of autonomy and the appointed candidate will be expected to use their initiative to impact positively on the outcomes for young people and their families. Travel will be expected so candidates must have the use of a vehicle.

"Working hours are 33 hours 50 minutes per week for 39 weeks per annum (1320 hours per annum) - term time + non-pupil days, working five days per week.
