A popular water sports business, which operates off Sidmouth beach during the summer months, may not open this year due to concerns around social distancing in the wake of Covid-19.

In a recent post on social media, owner Guy Russell said: "With social distancing still being the main tool in fighting this pandemic we cannot really even consider opening unless things get dramatically better.

"Being an outdoor sports business in some areas we could maintain social distancing but there are many aspects to what we do where we can't, for example if someone needs helping on to their board or the use of hire wetsuits etc.

"I can't promise that we will open for business this year but I will promise if we get the green light and can adapt our business to fit in with the current situation we will do our very best to do so.

"However if in order to respect and support the governments plan to fight this pandemic and keep every safe we have to remain closed then that is what we will do.

"If we can't open this year we will do our best to come back next year.

"Until then we would like to say thank you for always being so supportive of what we do.

"Now is a time to adapt, think outside the box and stay positive."
