Sidmouth Town Band will be holding its annual Last Night of the Proms concert next month after a two-year hiatus.

The event will be held in Connaught Gardens on Saturday 20 August.

It will be the 15th time the event has been held since it began in 2006.

A spokesperson for Sidmouth Town Band said: "The event attracts hundreds of concert goers and gives a chance to enjoy the Proms spirit locally in the beautiful surroundings of the Connaught Gardens.

"This year the band are delighted that soloist Penny Daw will be joining them on stage to sing and perform a selection of songs and of course, Proms favourites.

"Compering the evening's concert will be David Hayward, who is well known among brass band circles.

"The evening promises an impressive variety of music including the usual Proms favourites such as Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem.

"The band invites everyone to enjoy the Last Night of the Proms spirit and Prom-goers usually bring everything from picnic hampers and wine, to flags and candelabras to make it an evening occasion not to miss!"
