Man critically injured after car goes over cliff and lands on Sidmouth beach

A man is seriously injured after a car went over a Sidmouth cliff landing on the beach below.

Peak Hill Road is currently a hive of emergency services activity and police have cordoned off the beach.

A coastguard helicopter, paramedics, police and lifeboats are all in attendance.

The police have closed Peak Hill Road and Manor Road.

A police spokesman said: "Emergency services were called at 9.25am today [6 November] following reports that a car had gone over a cliff in Peak Hill Road, Sidmouth."

Police have confirmed that a vehicle ended up on the beach and one man has been seriously injured.
