Man who died after his car went over cliffs in Sidmouth formally identified

Police have now formally identified the man who died after his car went over cliffs in Sidmouth on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called to Peak Hill Road at 9.25am after the car left the clifftop and landed on the beach.

A 65-year-old man from the Derby area was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

Police, HM Coastguard teams and helicopter, ambulance, Sidmouth Lifeboat and the fire service all attended the incident.
