End of life care charity, Marie Curie, has opened the doors of its charity shop in Sidmouth.

The Marie Curie shop, located on Fore Street, is now open and ready to welcome customers and donations after being closed for over 16 weeks due to the pandemic.

A range of safety measures have been implemented including the quarantine of donations for a minimum of 48 hours to reduce the risk of contamination, increased cleaning, hand sanitiser stations and face coverings for staff and volunteers, as well as floor markings to ensure social distancing.

The shop will be limited to two shoppers maximum at a time and those wishing to make donations are being asked to call first on 01395 579876 to organise a time slot.

Carol Robinson, Marie Curie shop manager, said: "It's great to be back and we're looking forward to welcoming customers into our store, both regular and new, whilst keeping everyone safe. We ask for patience and understanding if things take a little longer than usual while we meet these new safety measures.

"Many of us have been sorting and clearing out preloved items from our homes. If you have any quality clothing, footwear, accessories, DVDs, CDs, books or homewares, please donate them to Marie Curie - our shops provide a vital income so we can continue providing care and support to dying people and their loved ones."

Visit the Marie Curie website to find out how to donate your preloved items and to find out more about how you can support Marie Curie.

The Marie Curie Information and Support line (0800 090 2309) can help with information about all aspects of end of life or grieving, whether you have practical, emotional or financial questions or concerns, or if you just want someone to talk to. Nurses are also available to talk to on the line. For more information, click the red button below.
