Motorcyclist hospitalised after crashing into railings

A motorcyclist has been hospitalised after crashing into railings on an East Devon road.

At around 10.45pm on Wednesday, February 13, police received a report of a single vehicle collision on Woolbrook Road in Sidmouth.

Initial investigations indicate that the motorcycle, a Yamaha R1, left the road before crashing into railings.

Two fire crews were sent to the scene and had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the rider's leg, which had become trapped as a result of the incident.

The rider, a local man in his 30's was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious leg injuries. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
