Welcome to this week's planning briefing from Sidmouth Nub News. Every week your Nub News team will put together a report on the planning applications, big and small, submitted to the area's planning authority, East Devon District Council, from the Sidmouth area.

The applications featured in this report have been verified by EDDC but decisions on the applications have not yet been made.

Here are the planning applications verified by EDDC for the week beginning Monday, February 17:

-General purpose agricultural building. Little Sweetcombe Farm, Sidbury, Sidmouth, EX10 0QR.

Ref. No: 20/0373/FUL. Validated: Wed 19 Feb 2020. Status: Awaiting decision.

-Construction of single storey extension (alternative to approved application 19/0665/FUL). 3 Coombe Hayes, Sidmouth, EX10 9XX.

Ref. No: 20/0397/FUL. Validated: Fri 21 Feb 2020. Status: Awaiting decision.

-A Sycamore (tag # 77) (approx. 20cm DBH) was fused to a branch of the multi-stem ash tree adjacent to it. The fuse has now broken leaving a significant wound approximately 5ft up the trunk. This wound has created a weakness in the stem which could lead to stem failure. The National Trust would like to fell this tree to avoid the risk of tree failure in adverse weather conditions in the future. Ideally we would also like to prune back the small branch (approx. 10-15cm diameter) of the ash tree (which was previously fused to the sycamore) to the collar of the union as there is also damage to this branch. The ash branch leans in to the field so this isn't essential. Cotmaton Field, Cotmaton Road, Sidmouth.

Ref. No: 20/0360/TCA. Validated: Tue 18 Feb 2020. Status: Awaiting decision.

-Replace 1no. bay window at ground floor, 2no. windows at first floor and 2no. windows at second floor on front (south) elevation. 2 Albany Villas, Salcombe Road, Sidmouth, EX10 8PW.

Ref. No: 20/0315/LBC. Validated: Mon 17 Feb 2020. Status: Awaiting decision.
