Sidmouth Town Council has today (Friday 10 June) revealed the designs for new and improved play parks at the Ham and Long Park in the town.

The new equipment should be installed by the end of July, barring any delays.

The schemes to improve the parks have been delayed until now due to a shortage of contractors after the pandemic, and 'factors beyond the [town] council's control', according to the local authority.

Cllrs Louise Cole and Denise Bickley said: "We are really excited to see the final plans for this ahead of the building of these two new parks.

"This project comes at a time when children and parents value outdoor play spaces more than ever in helping children to have fun benefitting from both physical and mental wellbeing.

"We have been pushing hard for these projects to be delivered and are very hopeful that there will be no further delays."

The 3D designs have reportedly been prepared with input from children, parents and schools. The end result may differ slightly in terms of seating, shelter, and planting.
