A new Sidmouth 'Sea Breeze' Vodka that smells like the ocean has won gold at Devon Food and Drink Awards.
The vodka, made by Sidmouth Distillery based at The Dairy Shop, is vapour infused with sea lettuce which is safely harvested from the beach in Sidmouth, under a special licence.
Sidmouth Distillery's John Hammond said: "It is really nice and is probably one of my favourites at the moment.
"It is a light, clean, crisp vodka with citrus notes and an amazing seaside aroma.
"It is something we started developing just over a year ago, which is when we did our first trial batch, we are constantly adjusting the flavours to get them just right."
The vodka is not the first alcoholic creation from this independent business to win awards.
They have also won gold for the Sea Truffle Gin and silver for their Seashore Gin and Port Royal Rum, as well as a highly commended award for their Sloe Gin.
John, who is based in Church Street, has also recently released a Christmas Cheer rum liquor.
He said: "We made a small batch last year which sold out very quickly so this year we have made a bigger batch.
"It is basically like drinking liquid Christmas."
