New measures could be introduced to tackle speeding and dangerous overtaking on the A375 Sidbury Hill.

District councillor Stuart Hughes, who's also the county council's cabinet member for highways management, is to meet senior highways officers at the site to discuss what action can be taken.

Cllr Hughes said several people whose properties adjoin Sidbury Hill had expressed concerns about the traffic.

He said he would suggest that the highways officers think about putting luminous backing on the 40mph signs along the road, and painting new road markings including double white lines to indicate 'no overtaking' near the entrances to the properties.

The decision to arrange the site visit was agreed by members of the Highways and Traffic Orders Committee on Friday, July 23.
