A new piece of art is now on display at Sidmouth's outdoor public gallery, Sidmouth Wallspace, in the Ham East Car Park.

The upside-down artwork is called 'Another Sidmouth', and shows another place called Sidmouth Down Under - that is, in Tasmania in Australia.

It was created by visual artist David Shrigley OBE, with the original photo taken by Loic Le Guilly.

David said: "There is another Sidmouth in Tasmania, Australia.

"This other Sidmouth is rather smaller than ours; just a truck stop and not much else."

Sidmouth resident Martin McInerney, pictured, said that he had visited Sidmouth, Tasmania with his wife in 1991.

Director of Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub Louise Cole said: "The latest artwork 'Another Sidmouth' is surprising and intriguing, stimulating our creative curiosity to see things from different perspectives, make new connections and yes to have some fun.

"Martin's coincidence is a brilliant testimony to that!".

What is Sidmouth Wallspace?

Sidmouth Wallspace is a collaborative project between Sidmouth School of Art, Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub, and Mr Shrigley.

It has hosted five other pieces of art, including pieces by Sidmouth College students and Sidmouth Photographic Club, and the billboard was put up in May last year.

The project is funded by Arts Council England with support from Sidmouth Town Council.
