Traditional Ottery-based funeral home, E A Dodd & Son Funeral Directors, have partnered with Nub News as a contributor to the Sidmouth Obituaries page.

The family-run business can be found in the heart of the community at St Saviours in Exeter Road, just near the bridge.

With their funeral home in Honiton already helping a number of families across the Otter Valley, family Funeral Directors Julian and Karen Hussey and Eric and Joyce Dunford decided to open a new branch in Ottery St Mary.

In December 2016 the newly refurbished premises were opened and dedicated. They are tastefully decorated with all facilities on site; there is even a large Service Room where any type of ceremony can be held.

On a daily basis, Funeral Director Paul Fudge cares for families in both the Ottery St Mary and Honiton branches.

Originally from Taunton and having been involved in the funeral industry since the age of 16, Paul is a true professional in his career and offers a caring approach to his bereaved families.

He is currently the President Elect of Otter Valley Rotary, Chairperson of Honiton Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a cadet leader, as well as being active in other community roles.

"I'm very involved with the community and like taking part in what's going on," Paul explained.

"Our business ethos is that we are there for people when they need us and that the care continues long after the funeral has taken place."

Sidmouth Nub News's obituary service

Obituaries contributed to Sidmouth Nub News can be any length, include up to 10 images and will be published completely free of charge on the Sidmouth Nub News website.

Family and friends can view and share the entries, which will remain on the Obituaries section.

There is also the option to include a link to a crowdfunding page or charity if the family is requesting donations in memory of their loved one.

Nub News CEO Karl Hancock said: "Sidmouth Nub News is bringing obituaries back to life. They used to be some of the most well-read pages in local newspapers. We want to bring that back.

"We give Sidmouth residents a platform to celebrate the life of a loved one free of charge, and this demonstrates our ongoing commitment to serving the community.

"We are delighted to partner with E A Dodd & Son Funeral Directors to offer this valuable service to Ottery residents.

"Like Sidmouth Nub News, the company is very much a fixture of the local community and shares the same values.

"We believe obituaries are an essential part of the local news scene."
