Planning permission is currently being sought to build four new two-bed terraced holiday lets on the site of a former garage at the Sidholme Hotel.

The plans acknowledge the new houses would "potentially affect the setting" of the Grade II* listed hotel, but said the proposals have been designed to "minimise this impact", with the dwellings on the same footprint of the existing garage and keeping to the existing ridge height.

The proposed houses would "aim to incorporate the existing external walls" of the single-storey garage, with access from the existing site entrance off Brewery Lane.

They would each have, on the ground floor, an open plan living room/kitchen/diner, storage space, bathroom and a bedroom. On the first floor, there would be a bedroom and ensuite bathroom.

Parking would be on land to the north, and additional parking could be arranged via a permit system through the Sidholme Hotel, making use of its car park.
