The owner of Sidmouth Housewares at 22 Fore Street is seeking planning permission for three new houses behind, and two new flats above, her shop.

To achieve this, Mrs B Parkyn would demolish the single-storey flat-roofed extension to the rear.

The three new houses would each have two bedrooms, a parking space and a private garden. They would be three storeys tall.

The materials used would be red bricks, aluminium-clad timber and dark grey fibre cement roof tiles. The windows and roof lights would also be dark grey, and the entrance doors made of solid timber.

The existing accommodation above the shop is reportedly in a "poor" state and has been used for storage. The two new flats there would each have one bedroom and a parking space.

The application is currently awaiting a decision from the district council.
