Planning permission is currently being sought to build a new three-storey detached house in the garden of a Sidmouth home.

The site for the proposed dwelling is in the garden to the west of 37 Alexandria Road, which is semi-detached.

The new house would have three double bedrooms and its design would be like the other 1920s/1930s style homes nearby. It would also have bat and bird boxes and bee bricks to encourage wildlife.

Access would be via the existing driveway, and there would be parking directly outside the main entrance to the new house.

Both 37 Alexandria Road and the new property would have "good-sized" gardens.

The application is currently awaiting a decision from East Devon District Council.
