A planning application for a new campsite near Sidmouth has been submitted to East Devon District Council.

If the plans are approved, 52 acres of "redundant" agricultural land north of Boswell Farm near Sidford would become a caravan and campervan site for up to 16 pitches with a space for tents. A single-storey shower and toilet block would also be built.

Boswell Farm currently offers eight converted farm buildings, with capacity for up to 36 guests, as holiday accommodation.

The land for the proposed campsite has open pasture, a wooded area alongside a stream and a pond, a garden, tennis courts, existing off-street parking and several outbuildings.

The existing highway access would be widened and the visibility in both directions improved.

The application is currently awaiting a decision from the district council.
