Pop-up street food market comes to Sidmouth this month

By Philippa Davies 7th Jun 2021

A street food market will be taking place in the grounds of Kennaway House on the last Friday of this month – and again in July and August.

Sidmouth Eats Boutique will offer authentic street food from around the world, supplied by local traders.

There will also be drinks from Devon suppliers, such as Lyme Bay cider and Four Elms apple juice.

The organisers hope the events will bring families and friends together to share food and drink outside on summer evenings.

Eleanor Carr from Unique Boutique Events said: "We work with lots of wonderful small, independent and local businesses which contribute to building a resilient community.

"For this year we are so pleased to be partnering up with Kennaway House, themselves a much loved events venue, and charitable trust.

"In these times it's even more important to be helping and supporting one another. Kennaway House has a wonderful lawn and we have a fantastic event, so by working together we bring mutual benefit to our own organisations."

The pop-up street food markets are run with the aim of creating as little waste as possible. There will be a deposit scheme for plastic cups, and the traders will use degradeable packaging or serve food on plates brought along by customers.

Kennaway House's general manager, Nikki Dawkins, said: "We are so pleased to host Eats Boutique events for a wonderful community and family occasion. We are all looking forward to meeting up and greeting so many family members and friends, and this is a wonderful opportunity for an informal get-together!"

The Sidmouth street food markets take place on Friday, June 25, July 23 and August 27, from 4pm until 9pm.

The August event coincides with the Red Arrows air display over Sidmouth.

Details of some of the food that will be available at each market will be posted on Eats Boutique's Facebook page a few days in advance.
