A popular Exeter restaurant is branching out to Sidmouth today and will be open for food service tomorrow (Saturday 15 January).

The On The Waterfront restaurant on Exeter Quay will take over the premises of The Marine on Sidmouth Esplanade, and be offering its very first launch menu for the next couple of weeks - and is already fully booked on Saturday evening.

They don't plan on changing the name, but may adjust it later.

A spokesperson for The Marine said: "It feels amazing to be fully booked on our first Saturday. It's been such a lovely welcome from Sidmouth, we hope we do them proud.

"We want to keep some of The Marine's individuality, so don't plan on changing the name. We might make a little adjustment a little down the line to 'On The Marine'."

What's on the menu?

If you've been to On The Waterfront, you'll know it's famous for its giant pizzas - but these are not a feature on its initial launch menu.

The menu features five sections: nibbles, tapas, mains, pizzas, and sides.

Olives, pork scratchings, and focaccia are under 'nibbles', and Welsh rarebit, slow roast maple pork belly, chickpea fries, and chicken wings are included as tapas.

For the mains, there are mussels, burgers (including a vegan burger), and grilled fillets of plaice.

Pizzas are very varied, from the more standard Margherita, to one with roasted vegetables topped with rocket, another with pulled ham hock and BBQ chicken, and another with sautéed wild mushrooms and stilton.

Sides feature fries, cheesy fries, coleslaw, salad, and 'black cheese bites with sweet chilli'.

Gluten free and vegan options are available.

How can I book?

You can read the menu yourself here.

You can book online through the website here - the evening of Saturday 15 January is already fully booked indoors, but there's still daytime availability and it's open on Sunday too.
