A lorry caught fire after leaving the road in Ottery St Mary this morning (Tuesday 25 July).

The driver managed to get out and is uninjured.

The B3174 Exeter Road was closed both ways from the A30 to Strawberry Lane but has since reopened.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 8.25am today, 25 July, following reports that a lorry had left Exeter Road, Ottery St Mary, and gone into a ditch.

"The male driver managed to get out of the vehicle safe and well.

"The HGV then set alight and fire and police attended."
