A Sidmouth-based company that makes cosmetics and edible seasonings and now beer using seaweed has won awards for two of its new products.

Ebb Tides Seaweeds won two gold Taste of the West awards for its Seaweed Salt and 'Danger Point' seaweed-based red ale.

It was also recently a joint winner of the 'Sustainability' category in this year's Exeter Living Awards.

The company was founded by Tony Coulson in 2016 and is now 80% owned by founder and director of Sidmouth Gin John Hammond.

John said: "Really pleased for the company with the two new products. We think the salt and seaweed is amazing and Tony has been working on a range of different beers for over a year.

"We knew it was good when the keg we made only lasted two days at a tap room in Exeter!"

The seaweed-based ale is made at Many Hands Brewery in Dunkerswell.

Sidmouth Gin and Ebb Tides Seaweeds products are available from The Dairy Shop on Church Street in Sidmouth.
