One of the biggest art exhibitions in the region showcasing a wide variety of local talent is set to once again delight art lovers - and Sidmouth artists feature in its line-up.

The Big Colyton Art Show (BCAS), organised by the Colyton Grammar School Parents' Association, will take place on Saturday 14 October and Sunday 15 October 2023 at the school.

It promises to be a fantastic showcase of many of the talented artists from around the South West, as well as an important fundraising event for the school, which as a state school relies on fundraising for additional activities to enrich the experience of its students. Sidmouth artists are featured in the show, including Favell Bevan-Arti.

Favell was born in Kenya, where she grew up with a love and respect for all natural life. She studied at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, Italy. Favell moved to England in 1998 from Northern Cyprus. The light and how it affects colour constitute a continual journey of learning for her. Pastels have been her preferred medium as it is one of the most direct and versatile methods of catching the fast moving light patterns of nature. Capturing the movement of sea with pastels has brought about the excitement of the challenge of the ever changing moods of water.

This year's show features up to 40 artists, and includes paintings in all media, as well as printmaking, photography, ceramics, textiles and wood. The show's patron is Phil Creek, himself an esteemed artist. Always highly regarded and a popular event for the region, there really is something for everyone at this year's Big Colyton Art Show.

The show will also offer a stylishly curated shop, art raffle and cafe serving locally produced cakes, hot drinks, choice of soups and great coffee.

Come and join us at the show - a must for art lovers and perfect for Christmas gift inspiration!
