The countdown is on for Sidmouth's Christmas Lights switch on event tomorrow.

Once again Sidmouth Town Council is providing the festive lighting display along the town's streets.

This year the town's lights will be switched on by pupils of Sidmouth Primary School, who will also perform a number of carols.

To help revellers get into the Christmas spirit, local duo Vine and Dandy will be providing music and entertainment from 4.30pm onwards.

The local Gliddon's steam engine will also be attendance to add to the festive atmosphere.

The Chair of Sidmouth Town Council, Councillor Ian Barlow said: "This year, it is entirely fitting that a group of our own local youngsters receives some recognition and a chance to show off their singing skills."

Sidmouth's Christmas Lights will be switched on at 5.30pm on Saturday, November 16, in the Market Place and will be followed by the chance for local children to win a whopping £100 'Golden Ticket' toy voucher, generously donated by Gliddon's Toy Shop in Church Street.

The Christmas lights display is paid for by Sidmouth Town Council with support from Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce.
