Students from Sidmouth College are set to take on the Ten Tors Challenge this weekend (Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May).

The Ten Tors Challenge is organised by the British Army and involves hiking routes of 35, 45, or 55 miles to ten tors on Dartmoor in under two days. It is aimed at teenagers, and sees more than 2,000 take part in teams of six.

12 Sidmouth College students in Year 10 will take part this year, and have been training for the endurance test since October 2021.

A spokesperson for Sidmouth College said: "Sidmouth College have been delighted to resume Ten Tors training during the winter 2021 and spring 2022 – and are looking forward to our two 35-mile teams taking the challenge over the weekend of 7 and 8 May 2022.

"This is the 60th anniversary of the event and Sidmouth College has a long history of successful teams. We are grateful to our volunteers who give up their time and expertise."

Travelling to Okehampton Army Camp today (Friday 6 May), the students will join the other participants on the start line just after 6am on Saturday morning when the event is due to begin.
