East Devon District Council is asking people what they think of West Hill having its own 'neighbourhood area'.

It means West Hill could have its own 'neighbourhood plan' in future, giving locals a say over where new houses and developments should be built in general.

The plan would then help the district council decide which planning applications to approve or refuse.

Ottery St Mary and West Hill currently have a joint neighbourhood plan. The consultation comes after West Hill Parish Council applied to have its own neighbourhood area, as it believes some policies could be "strengthened and made more specific for West Hill, and some new policies are needed".

The closing date to share your views is 9am on Monday 30 October. To make comments on the proposal, email [email protected] or write to the planning policy team at Blackdown House, Border Road, Heath Park Industrial Estate, Honiton, EX14 1EJ.

You can find out more about the proposal online here.
