Sidmouth: Devon's Doveleigh Care are still at the top

By Nub News guest writer 18th May 2023

Doveleigh Care Ltd is a care home company based in East Devon providing residential care of an exceptional standard for the elderly.

Arcot House is a 28-bed home located in the seaside town of Sidmouth. It provides care in the beautiful setting of a Georgian Manor house with a large secure garden. A new, spacious 5-bedroom ground floor extension has also been constructed within the last few years.

Dove Court is a beautiful 32-bed care home set high on the hillside above Seaton with stunning views looking over the Axe Valley towards Axmouth and Lyme Bay.

Doveridge is a homely 20-bed care home, set in an old farmhouse in the friendly town of Colyton. It provides personal care for older people living with dementia.

Not only are all three homes presently rated "outstanding" by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is some feat in itself, but what is more impressive is that all three have been repeatedly rated outstanding by CQC for the last six years, which is an absolutely amazing achievement. The CQC has rated Arcot House in Sidmouth to be outstanding in all five domains of inspection twice: once in 2017, and again in 2020, which makes it the first and only residential care home in the country to attain this incredible achievement!

Doveleigh Care Ltd also received the 'Top Twenty Group Award 2023'. This is the seventh year running that the company has been recognised as one of the best 20 care home operators in the United Kingdom. Additionally, another testimony to Doveleigh Care's exceptional service is that, as it stands today, on www.carehome.co.uk all three care homes are presently ranked as the Top Three care homes in the whole of Devon.

Doveleigh Care's 2023 highlights so far

The King's coronation

Residents celebrating coronation (Doveleigh Care)

Residents across Doveleigh Care's three care homes celebrated the King's coronation with a variety of activities. They also helped set up all the decorations, filling the homes with flags and bunting ready for the celebrations. Residents started off the weekend fun with a crown decoration session and a royal quiz, whilst they reminisced about the Queen's coronation back in 1953, most of whom could remember watching it back then.

One of the residents, Mary, who will be 102 this year, not only remembers the Queen's coronation but also King George VI's coronation way back in 1937, when she was 16 at the time! The communal areas were arranged so everyone had a clear view of the TV and everyone sat and watched the very special occasion. Masks of the King and Queen were worn, causing much amusement. Later in the afternoon, everyone was treated to a plate of assorted cakes and a glass of Prosecco. Special days like these are very memorable and it's always a joy to see the residents have so much fun.

Three staff join the five-year anniversary club

A huge congratulations to Stacie McGrory who is celebrating five years at Doveleigh Care. Stacie joined as a Care Assistant back in 2018 and has now progressed to a Team Leader. The entire team at Doveleigh Care Ltd would like to thank Stacie for her continuous commitment and person-centred care she gives to all of our residents. Katie Zimny and Nikki Bedford have also reached their 5 year anniversary, both of whom are assets to the team and continue to provide person-centred care at the highest level.

All three homes are supported by a team of staff with a range of skills and experiences. This includes the management team, care staff, activity organisers, maintenance staff, cooks and housekeepers. The skills of individuals are utilised across all of the homes to ensure all residents are able to benefit. Staff also work across the three homes when required to provide additional support, or to cover holiday or sickness. Our continued success and recognition have been through the incredible efforts and dedication of our wonderful, hardworking team. We are always looking for other caring individuals to enhance our team at every level in any of our care homes. If you would like to work at one of the best care homes in Devon, why not give us a call or drop us an email?
